Its high resolution (4 mg/LSB) allows for the detection of inclination changes as small as 1.0°.
The module offers several advanced sensing functions, including activity and inactivity sensing, which detect motion or the lack thereof, and trigger if the acceleration on any axis exceeds a user-set threshold. It also features tap sensing for detecting single and double taps, as well as free-fall sensing to detect if the device is in free fall. These features can be mapped to one of two interrupt output pins. Additionally, an integrated, patent-pending 32-level FIFO buffer stores data to reduce the need for frequent host processor intervention.
Low-power modes facilitate intelligent motion-based power management, allowing for threshold sensing and active acceleration measurement with minimal power consumption.
