The Soil Moisture Sensor features two probes that measure the volumetric water content in soil. These probes allow an electrical current to pass through the soil, and the sensor then determines the resistance value to calculate moisture levels.
When the soil is wet, it conducts electricity better, resulting in lower resistance and a higher moisture reading.
When the soil is dry, it conducts electricity poorly, leading to higher resistance and a lower moisture reading.
This principle helps in determining how much water is present in the soil, making the sensor ideal for irrigation systems, gardening, and agriculture projects with Arduino.
