This 5mm LDR alters its resistance in response to changes in ambient light exposure on the sensor's surface. LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) is a type of photocell commonly used in light-sensing applications, such as automatic outdoor light switches or indoor light control systems.

The 5mm LDR sensor is effective in both light and dark environments. Light-dependent resistors, or photoresistors, are essential components in electronics, providing a simple way to measure ambient light levels. As the light intensity on the sensor increases, the resistance between the two leads decreases.

The sensor contains two Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) PhotoConductive Cells, with spectral responses similar to the human eye. The resistance of the cells decreases as light intensity rises. This product is ideal for applications like smoke detection, automatic lighting control, batch counting, and burglar alarm systems.
