The MAX30102 Heart Rate and Pulse Oximeter Sensor Module is an integrated biosensor designed for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen (SpO2) levels. It combines a red LED, infrared LED, photodetector, optical components, and low-noise electronic circuitry with ambient light rejection for accurate physiological readings.
This module operates using a 1.8V internal power supply along with a separate supply for the LEDs, making it suitable for low-power wearable applications. It is commonly used in devices worn on the finger, wrist, or earlobe for continuous health monitoring. The module communicates via a standard I2C interface, allowing easy integration with microcontrollers such as Arduino and other embedded systems for processing heart rate and oxygen saturation data.
The MAX30102 also supports software-controlled shutdown mode, enabling ultra-low power consumption with near-zero standby current. Compared to earlier versions like the MAX30100, it offers improved accuracy and reduced interference due to its integrated optical design and protective glass cover.
